Hofstra University’s FORM student gallery in Calkins Hall, South Campus, presents My Love by Brandon Chivers, October 6-11, 2014. A sophomore from Portland, OR, Chivers is majoring in Fine Arts with a concentration in Design.
My Love features works of graphic design portraying the disparate qualities of youth and sexuality. Chivers’ works are created to appear like simple photographs until viewed up close, when the audience will realize the complexity of each individual piece. “It’s to symbolize that we can no longer critique from afar, but that we need to confront things straight on,” Chivers says.
After graduation, Chivers aspires to work in the art department of a fashion magazine in order to earn the title of art or creative director.
The FORM Gallery is located on the first floor of Calkins Hall, South Campus. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information call the Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History at 516-463-5474.
