Lisa Merrill, PhD, professor of rhetoric in the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, recently returned to Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, to deliver a talk on performance theory as part of the conference, “Cultural Struggles: A Symposium Honoring Dwight Conquergood.”
Conquergood (1949-2004) was a noted ethnographer and an associate professor of performance studies at Northwestern. Dr. Merrill has also contributed commentary to Cultural Struggles, a 2013 collection of Conquergood’s works.
Last year, Dr. Merrill delivered the closing keynote at Northwestern’s interdisciplinary conference, “In Bodies We Trust: Performance, Affect & Political Economy.”
