Students Show Off Their Talent for Tech

Hofstra University presented its first Make-A-Thon and Hack-A-Thon event at Calkins Lab on March 27, 2014. The Make-A-Thon (held from 7-11 p.m. that evening) gave students the opportunity to build electronic gadgets and try their hand at flying the world’s smallest quadcopter flying drone and printing items on a 3D printer. Despite its name, the Hack-A-Thon did not involve any hacking; the event was an all-night computer coding competition that challenged student teams to create programming that would benefit the Hofstra community.
