Hofstra University’s School of Education is hosting a graduate studies open house for its Department of Teaching, Literacy and Leadership. This will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014, 4-6 p.m., in the lobby of Hagedorn Hall, located on the far east side of Hofstra’s South Campus (off of Uniondale Avenue). Students who attend the March 26 open house and begin their application within 48 hours will receive an application fee waiver. Light refreshments will be served.
Faculty and program representatives of the Department of Teaching, Literacy and Leadership will be available to discuss and answer questions about graduate study in early/elementary education, secondary education, literacy studies, leadership and administration, as well as K-12/special subject teacher certification programs. Explore masters, advanced certificates, and doctoral program offerings and learn more about the application process.
Recently Hofstra launched a new graduate program in Educational Technology and a doctoral concentration in Higher Education Leadership. The School of Education has partnerships with the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District and North Shore School District that allow selected students to follow up a student-teaching assignment with a paid internship the following semester. Additionally, multiple grants have been awarded to the School of Education to help expand Hofstra’s STEM offerings and outreach.

In 2013 Hofstra University’s School of Education was the only Long Island institution to be was named among the top-100 Best Graduate Schools of Education in the country by U.S. News & World Report. Earlier in 2014, Hofstra’s MSEd in Higher Education Leadership and Studies was also ranked by U.S. News & World Report among the Top 100 online programs in the nation.
