Trick or Treat! Hofstra’s Youngest Students Celebrate Halloween

Babies just months old to pre-K kids stepped out in their Halloween finest for a parade in the playground of the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute (CCI), part of the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center on Hofstra’s South Campus. Children marched to cheers from their parents and teachers, and floats (aka strollers) rolled along filled with infants celebrating their first Halloween. Costumes ranged from baby chicks, to princesses and pirates, locomotives, and some superheroes. Parents took pictures and teachers handed out packages of Goldfish and other treats to the trick-or-treaters.

CCI is New York state licensed and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Hofstra’s CCI focuses on the child’s total development – social, emotional, cognitive and physical. The program offers developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 8 weeks to 5 years, providing opportunities for hands-on, integrated learning. Children are grouped according to age and ability. The child-to-staff ratios meet and exceed those required by New York state licensing and NAEYC standards for excellence in care.
