Midnight Madness Next Week
Don’t forget about MIDNIGHT MADNESS, a preseason basketball celebration on Wednesday, November 6 at Hofstra USA. The event, which will be open to Hofstra University students only, will run from 9 p.m.-12 a.m. DJ Whutevva from Power 105.1 will be on site to get the party going and the event will be emceed by Siddique Farooqi, the public address announcer for all home Hofstra Basketball games.
Women’s Soccer Clinches Fourth Seed In CAA Championship
The Pride women’s soccer team tied a pair of contests this past weekend, clinching the fourth seed in the upcoming CAA Championship. Hofstra posted a 3-3 draw with William & Mary and a 2-2 tie with James Madison. The Pride will host UNCW in a CAA Quarterfinals match at 4 p.m. Sunday. Before Sunday’s game, Hofstra recognized its senior class – Nicki Choffel, Brittany Farriella, Tara Kerns, Kerry Cummings, Ruby Staplehurst, Amber Stobbs and Emily Morphitis – who suited up for their final regular season home game.
Volleyball Extend Win Streak
The Hofstra Volleyball team won a pair of matches to extend their win streak to three. The Pride downed Sacred Heart in the final non-conference contest of the year before avenging an earlier season loss to Northeastern with a five-set victory.
Field Hockey Closes Home Schedule With Win
The Pride field hockey team celebrated senior day with a 5-2 win over Towson Sunday, scoring three unanswered goals in the second half. Before the game, Hofstra honored its five graduating seniors – Stephanie Cowles, Kaitlyn De Turo, Katelyn Horan, Meg Leusch and Shannon McCardell.
CAA Basketball Media Day Recap
The Colonial Athletic Association hosted its annual basketball media day last Tuesday in Baltimore, Maryland. Click the link for interviews with Head Coaches Joe Mihalich and Krista Kilburn-Steveskey, as well asrecaps of the television package and the preseason polls and All-CAA teams.
NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum
The Hofstra University Department of Athletics is excited to announce that three members of the department will attend the upcoming 2013 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in Providence, Rhode Island, from November 7-10.This prestigious event will be attended by Assistant Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Services and Life Skills Development James Lally, along with men’s tennis student-athlete Ari Richman and women’s cross country student-athlete Becky Celorio.
