The ranking by Affordable College Online represents institutions where graduates go on to earn more over their lifetimes, on average, than graduates of other New York colleges and universities. The website rated institutions based on several factors, including tuition and fees and graduate starting salaries, to come up with the rankings. Out of 472 New York colleges and universities that were analyzed, 84 were ranked.
Affordable Colleges Online (www.affordablecollegesonline.org) is a not-for-profit resource center that provides information about college cost, financial aid and college rankings for prospective college students and their families.
To calculate the rankings, the website used data from the federal Department of Education, Payscale.com , an online compensation aggregator, and the Carnegie Foundation, which classifies U.S. colleges and universities based on factors including research and degrees offered.
