Public Health Game Changer

Anthony Santella, DrPH, associate professor in the School of Health Professions and Human Services and director of the Master of Public Health program, has been elected to serve on the American Public Health Association’s governing council, which oversees its legislative issues.

Dr. Santella will represent and advocate for HIV/AIDS issues during the two-year term, which begins Nov. 9 following the association’s annual meeting in Atlanta.

As a governing councilor, Dr. Santella will help shape policy statements on APHA’s position on public health issues, establish task forces for new initiatives, and work with the APHA’s other boards in areas such as science and education to bring about changes in legislation and regulation that will improve the quality of public health nationwide.

In addition to directing the public health graduate and advanced certificate programs, Dr. Santella also teaches undergraduate courses in community health, health science, and LGBTQ studies.
