The Pride kicked off Welcome Week 2017 on Thursday, August 31 with Move-In Day. Throughout the five-day slate of activities, incoming students are introduced to academic and social life at the university, take part in special Hofstra traditions, and explore the diversity of both the student body and the surrounding communities.
Students and parents arrived on campus Thursday morning, unloading cars and decorating rooms before classes begin on Tuesday, September 5. See pictures from Move-In 2017.
On Friday, September 1 at 10 a.m., students joined art historian, curator, and teacher, Dr. Sarah Lewis, for a discussion of her book and this year’s common reading assignment, The Rise: Creativity, The Gift of Failure and the Search for Mastery. The book examines how creative endeavors are the result of previously failed attempts.
Other highlights from August 31 – September 4 include a Class of 2021 group photo, trips to New York City, a new student barbecue, dance party, and an outdoor movie screening.
