Members of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity shoveled snow for local senior citizens during the first snowfall of 2017, as part of the University’s Snow Angels program.

Snow Angels community service program, snow clean up, Phi Delta Theta fraternity membersFour students – Rob Kennedy, Josh Perloff, Mersim Redzematovic, and Ryan McCallen – cleared sidewalks, walkways and driveways at the homes of eight disabled residents who live in the neighborhoods surrounding Hofstra.

“The Snow Angels who arrived yesterday were terrific,” said Gloria Maffettone, of Uniondale. “Hofstra should be proud of them.”

This is the third year that the fraternity has participated in the service program, which was created in 2011 by Anita Ellis, director of the Office of Commuting Student Services and Community Outreach.  In all, the program has helped more than 40 local individuals and families with snow cleanup.
