“The Emergent National Security Landscape: The New Strategic Polarization of the World” features Professor Frank Galgano, chair of the Department of Geography and Environment at Villanova University, former Geography Program director, U.S. Military Academy at West Point (2002-2006); and Lieutenant Colonel (retired), United States Army (1980-2007).
Location is the Leo A. Guthart Cultural Center Theater, first floor, Axinn Library, South Campus.
Thursday, November 17, at 6:30 p.m.
Dinner in Africa! Learn about the countries of Africa over a diversity dinner organized by the student club Get Global and the African Student Association (ASA) at Hofstra.
Location is the Mack Student Center, Plaza Rooms Middle and East, North Campus.
Open to Hofstra students – Geography Photo Contest
Students: email Professor Kari Jensen with a photo that fits the topic title “Debating/voting/dissenting; civically engaging in 2016.” In no more than two sentences, explain why the photo is relevant to geography. Send the photo as an attachment from a Hofstra email account to ensure eligibility. This photo contest is organized by the Department of Global Studies and Geography, and Mu Kappa, Hofstra’s chapter of the international geographic honor society Gamma Theta Upsilon.
The grand prize is a $50 Amazon gift card. Second and third place winners will receive t-shirts. Photos will be judged by members of Mu Kappa and freelance photographer Naser Khan. The deadline for submissions is November 20, 2016. Winners will be announced at the department’s end-of-semester party in early December.
