Miked Up at WRHU

WFAN sports radio host Mike Francesa broadcast his afternoon drive-time show live from the WRHU-88.7 FM (Radio Hofstra University) studios at The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication earlier this year, with several students working as engineers on the show. Francesa chatted with Hofstra President Stuart Rabinowitz and Men’s Basketball Coach Joe Mihalich. He also interviewed several students, asking them about their career aspirations and challenging them to deliver their best sports commentary, update or home run call. “You guys are good,” Francesa told the students. “You don’t fall apart when I give you this stuff. Good job.”

Francesa was on campus as a featured speaker at the national industry conference Talkers 2016: Bridging the Generations. The event is organized annually by Talkers magazine publisher and Hofstra alumnus Michael Harrison ’71, who presented the Herbert School with a donation to support WRHU and the Student Experience Fund, which helps fund enrichment programs outside the classroom, such as study abroad, research projects, internships, academic conferences, professional events and student organization activities. The gift was made on behalf of Goodphone Communications Inc., the multimedia firm that manages Talkers.
