Standout Student: Rachael Durant

During her senior year as a public relations and psychology major, Rachael Durant ’16 was offered a full-time communications position at a public affairs firm in Boston, near her home. From the moment she stepped onto Hofstra’s campus, she took advantage of the University’s many extracurricular and leadership opportunities. She joined Habitat for Humanity during freshman year and became relay captain. In her junior year, she became a member of Zeta Phi Eta, the National Pre-professional Fraternity in the Communications Arts and Sciences, for which she was elected historian and then treasurer. During junior hear, she represented Hofstra for the prestigious two-week Inside Washington Academic Seminar in Washington, D.C., which led to her becoming a peer teacher in her senior year. A Provost Scholar, Rachael also held multiple internships, including one for a Massachusetts senator and another at a strategic communications firm in Boston that yielded a freelance position during her senior year.
