Dr. Esther Fusco, chair and associate professor of Teaching, Literacy and Leadership in the School of Education, has written Effective Questioning Strategies In the Classroom: A Step-by-Step Approach to Engaged Thinking and Learning, K-8 (Teachers College Press, 2012).

Dr. Fusco’s book provides teachers with a process for implementing a set of strategies known as the Questioning Cycle. This strategy supports teachers in planning and asking questions, assessing students’ responses, and following up those responses with more questions to extended thinking. The book is appropriate for teachers K-8 to create a challenging learning climate and lively class discussion.
