Welcome to this week’s edition of Hofstra Happenings, a weekly look at the top stories in Pride Athletics.

Men’s Basketball Downs Central Connecticut

Four Pride players scored in double-figures to lead Hofstra past the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut, 72-67, Sunday afternoon at the Mack Sports Complex. The win snapped a three-game Hofstra losing streak. Zeke Upshaw (22 points), Stephen Nwaukoni (12 points, 12 rebounds), Moussa Kone (13 points) and Jamall Robinson (13 points), who earned CAA Rookie of the Week accolades, led Hofstra’s balanced offense. Hofstra, MSG To Host 2016 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships

The NCAA announced last week that Hofstra University was selected to host the 2016 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at Madison Square Garden, the World’s Most Famous Arena, in New York City.

Women’s Basketball Falls At Saint Joseph’s

The Pride began a string of three consecutive road games with a 73-60 loss at Saint Joseph’s. Andreana Thomas paced the Pride with 14 points. Hofstra will travel to Harvard this Saturday for a 1 p.m. tipoff against the Crimson following an 11-day break.

Blue and Gold Society Holiday Reception

Hofstra Athletics held its annual Blue and Gold Society Holiday Reception, which featured Baseball CoachJohn Russo, senior men’s lacrosse student-athlete Corey Caputo and senior women’s soccer student-athleteRuby Staplehurst give remarks on their experiences at Hofstra and what the support of the Blue and Gold Society means to them. Men’s Basketball To Play In Paradise Jam In 2015

The Hofstra Men’s Basketball program will make its fifth appearance outside of the continental United States in 2015 when the Pride takes part in the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. Additional information, including the tournament field and travel packages, will be announced at a future date.
