“Physical Education and Maths – The Perfect Couple”
Co-Authored by Sharon Phillips, Assistant Professor of Health Studies and Kinesiology
In this article published in Physical Educator (New Zealand), Professor Phillips and Risto Marttinen of Columbia University address the problem of K-12 teachers having to fit a large amount of instruction into a limited number of hours during the day. One solution they explore is the integration of maths and physical education, and they discuss why these two subjects fit together in a number of different ways. The article may be a useful tool for teachers given the implementation of common core standards.
