Later today, October 22, 2013, The Department of Psychology, the Criminology program and the Maurice A. Deane School of Law are partnering on an event titled “The Forgiveness Film Festival,” which will include a screening of the documentary The Final Gift. The film chronicles the author/director’s attempt to make sense of the murder of her brother. It addresses universal ideas of forgiveness and redemption as well as larger societal questions: how do we make peace with crime, support the victims, and restore the offenders?
The screening and discussion begins at 6 p.m. at the Siben Moot Courtroom, South Campus. Admission is free.
Following the film, the panel discussion will include guests Therese Bartholomew, the author and director of The Final Gift; Dr. Robert Goldman, adjunct professor of criminal justice; and Sascha Schneider and Tamara Meyer, director and producer, respectively, of How the Light Gets In, a documentary about Holocaust victims and perpetrators meeting for the first time.
