Chuck Anderson, adjunct associate professor of writing studies, has published the book Brief Lives: The Art of the Obituary (2013 Publish America). For more than 25 years, Professor Anderson worked as a reporter and editor for the Long Island Advance. When he began, he was asked to write an occasional obituary. Professor Anderson learned that the best obituary revealed not how his subjects died, but how they lived and what they contributed to the general good. Brief Lives is a collection of some of Professor Anderson’s best tributes, many of which were written for members of the “Greatest Generation.” Brief Lives is Professor Anderson’s 11th book.
