Hofstra University is expanding its shuttle service for students by adding overnight hours and a new route in the neighborhoods surrounding the University. The shuttle runs from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Weekend service resumes tonight, Thursday October 16, at 10 p.m. and continues through Sunday October 20, at 5 a.m. Full, 7-day-a week service will begin on Monday, October 21, at 10 p.m.
The shuttle will run through the neighborhoods surrounding Hofstra, traveling to various points on North and South campus, to local eating and entertainment establishments, and through areas of Hempstead and Uniondale where many students live. Riders must show the driver a valid Hofstra ID. The shuttle will provide students who work and study late, or who need to travel to off-campus residences and back, with regular and reliable transportation.
The shuttle can be tracked on a smartphone or online via GPS. Go to myhofstra.edu and tap on the Night Shuttle icon. This tool allows you to come out when you know the shuttle is nearby. The shuttle, either a small white bus or a gray Hofstra passenger van, will run in approximately 30 minute loops and will have regular stops. Pick-ups will only occur at designated stops. (Please see map at www.hofstra.edu/nightshuttle). The shuttle can only stop at designated stops or at spots along the designated route that are safe and secure for letting passengers out (at the driver’s discretion).
More information, including pick-up locations and the shuttle route, is available at www.hofstra.edu/nightshuttle or 516-463-7878.
