The Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP) offered by Hofstra University’s Scott Skodnek Business Development Center received the 2013 Statewide Award for Excellence for Outstanding Program Performance, Achievement, and Dedication to the Entrepreneurs of New York State.  The Award was presented to Judith Tyne, EAP Director and Associate Dean, at the EAP Annual Conference held in Albany in August.

Since 1991, the EAP has helped more than 1,200 entrepreneurs launch and expand their businesses through workshops providing “nuts and bolts” skills to increase the bottom line, manage finances, complete a business plan and create new marketing strategies to operate and grow a successful business.

A free information session about the EAP will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 6 pm in Weed Hall, Room 204, South Campus. The information session is free and open to the public. To register, please call (516) 463-5850.

The next 60-hour program will be offered October 7 – December 11, 2013 on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 pm for a fee of $495 including NxLevel curriculum.   An Entrepreneurship Certificate is earned upon completion of requirements.

Participants of the fall 2013 EAP session will have the opportunity to compete in a Business Plan Competition sponsored by Capital One Bank with prizes totaling $5,000.  Participants must complete all program requirements and submit a complete business plan to be eligible for the competition.
