Class of 2017 Discovery Program Students Make a Difference

About 60 first-year and transfer students are making a difference while they make the transition to life at Hofstra as part of the fifth-annual Discovery Program. Students arrived on Saturday, five days before Welcome Week activities begin, to participate in various projects based on one of four different paths of their choice: Community Empowerment, Outdoor Exploration, Social Awareness, and Sustainable Solutions. The activities have included volunteering at the Interfaith Nutrition Network soup kitchen, helping to build a home with the Nassau County chapter of Habitat for Humanity, visiting the United Nations and attending a seminar with a representative of the New York Civil Liberties Union.
